About the Journal

Impact Surgery is a digital, open access, peer-reviewed, AI-powered, independent journal which spans the wide range of all surgical and perioperative specialties. Our aim is to provide a rapid and flexible platform, that results in a clear and permanent record of academic activity. To do this, we will publish research efficiently, focussing on good methodology rather than positive or negative results. As an independent, open access, peer reviewed journal, we also aim to rapidly create a fairer financial ecosystem that supports faster and better peer review.

Impact Health is a bespoke, independent medical publishing house based in Birmingham (UK), founded in 2022 after periods of consultation and expert advice. Impact Surgery is the launch journal, with Impact Case Reports, Impact Health (General Medical), Impact Quality Improvement, and Impact Public Health as new journals to be launched in the future.

As part of its mission to improve surgical outcomes and patient care, Impact Surgery is integrating modern technologies into its editorial processes. A key initiative is our use of AI-driven tools, such as ChatGPT, to streamline and enhance our review and editorial workflows.

Impact Surgery is dedicated to exploring the future of surgery through both its research and its editorial practices, making it a forward-thinking platform for surgical professionals and researchers worldwide.
