Professor Aneel Bhangu, MBChB PhD FRCS

Aneel Bhangu is Professor of Global Surgery at the University of Birmingham and a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham. Aneel has a strong track-record of leading international randomised controlled trials and cohort studies, and he has led publications in journals including The Lancet, Lancet Infectious Disease, and BMJ. Aneel has extensive experience in peer review and has served as the British Journal of Surgery (BJS) Editor Assistant. Dr Dmitri Nepogodiev, MBChB MPH PhD MFPH

Dmitri Nepogodiev is Academic Clinical Lecturer in Public Health & Surgical Epidemiology at the University of Birmingham. Dmitri has co-led national and international surgical studies, including CovidSurg, the global surgical community's research response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dmitri has peer reviewed manuscripts for over 50 journals including The Lancet, Lancet Respiratory, Annals of Surgery, and the British Journal of Surgery. He has served on the editorial boards or equivalents of Anaesthesia, British Journal of Surgery (BJS), Colorectal Disease, and PLOS Global Public Health.
